Your name seems like a wonderful gift to me.

"I’m in love with people’s hands and the way they clench their fists and the way their fingertips lightly press down onto piano keys or thighs. Calloused fingers or dainty fingers. Hands writing poems or memos or parking tickets. Hands writing futures. To me, every crease on the palm is a love line."

“Tell me what happens the first time you see a woman naked.”

“The first time you see a woman naked will not be like you imagined. There will be no love, no trust, no intimacy. You won’t even be in the same room as her.

You won’t get to smile as she undresses you and you undress her. You won’t get to calm her nerves with nerves of your own. You won’t get to kiss her, feeling her lips and the edge of her tongue. You won’t get to brush your fingers over the lace of her bra or count her ribs or feel her heartbeat.

The first time you see a woman naked you will be sitting in front of a computer screen watching someone play at intimacy and perform at sex. She will contort her body to please everyone in the room but her. You will watch this woman who is not a woman, pixelated and filtered and customized. She will come ready-made, like an order at a restaurant. The man on the screen will be bigger than you, rougher than you. He will teach you how to talk to her. He will teach you where to put your hands and he will teach you what you’re supposed to like. He will teach you to take what is yours.

You must unlearn this. You must unlearn this twisted sense of love. You must unlearn the definition of pleasure and intimacy you are being taught. Kill this idea of love, this idea of entitlement, this way of scarring one another.”

"Tumblr is always looking for something to be offended at ugh if you can’t handle jokes than don’t go on Tumblr or the internet"

entitled people who literally get offended by marginalized groups’ desire to feel safe

Seriously this needs to stop. Let’s make a list on why this is gross:

1. “Tumblr” is not a mass entity of social justice bloggers whose mission in life is to annoy you. I’m pretty sure there are more porn and neo nazi blogs than social justice blogs. So why are SJ blogs getting more hate than neo nazi blogs? And why is every blog that mentions oppression called an SJ blog? It’s like people don’t know that oppression is actually a 24/7 experience and not a hypothetical theory.

2. People keep using the word “offended” ad nauseum when talking about this. No one is getting “offended”. No one is getting “offended”. Doesn’t that just mean annoyed? No, people are getting HARMED.Being triggered causes panic attacks and flashbacks. “Jokes” and slurs remind marginalized people that they are not valued and seen as one-dimensional and subhuman. Your stereotypical comments and microaggressions aren’t “mildly irritating”, they’re painful. You are hurting people and instead of changing you’re insisting that you’re the victim. Tbh that level of apathy and callousness is terrifying.

3. Did I miss something? Because I’m pretty sure adding a trigger warning in a post takes .5 seconds, yet you all are whining about it like it’s some huge sacrifice. Wtf? It’s not a big deal at all. You just seem to be angry at the idea of accommodating others. People can’t control their panic attacks or flashbacks, but you can control your tags. But apparently people who need trigger warnings only exist to inconvenience you. Stop making this about you.
